Spark Plugs Replacement- BMW 3 Series(e90) 2008

Hello again!

Today I will show you how to install a set of new spark plugs for your BMW 3(e90).

Tools and parts:

1 Set of hex keys

2 Spark Plugs Wrench 14mm

3 Wrench 8mm and 10mm

4 Spark Plugs - (of course Mr Obvious)
Sorry that's voices/revs in my petrol head :D

Lets get started!

STEP 1:

- Work only when the engine is COLD!!!
- Find the bolts holding your cabin filter.Unbolt them using 8mm wrench(red markers)
and pull it out.
- Take off the plastic covers(green markers) there is set of sensors and wires that have to clip off.
- Find the 2 bolts holding the metal cover(yellow markers) and pull it out.

If you followed the markers it should look like that

STEP 2:

Use a hex key to unbolt the plastic engine cover(orange markers)
Don't forget to remove the oil cap(red marker)
Pull the plastic engine cover out.
Here is the 3rd bolt for the cover hidden under the metal support frame.

STEP 3:

Now - clip off the connector on the top of the coil(red marker?!)

Grab the rubber gently with hands and pull the coil out.

DO NOT try to pull out with the plastic clipper.
Why?!
Well cause is plastic?! :D

STEP 4:

Use your spark plug wrench 14mm and stick it in the spark plug hole(it sound a bit dirty...oh well)

Unbolt the plug and take it out.

This spark plugs are more then 110 000 miles old....
One of them were dead and the car works on 3cilynders...
Poor BMW

Now repeat the same procedure(STEP 3 and 4) for all the spark plugs.
Be careful when tight up the spark plugs.DO NOT over tight!
When you feel the spark plug tight just add 1/4 spin with your spark plug wrench!
It's more than enough!

Another easy job and another way to save some money.

BMW 3 Series (E90) 2.0 170ps 2008 Oil & Air Filter Replacement

Hello guys,

My first blog advice for you would be on flushing the oil system, draining the old oil, putting the seals and oil filter in place. I will also show how to replace the air filter and what liquids to use.
I will tell you how much oil to pour in and why exactly that amount. With this step by step manual changing your oil & air filter will be a hassle free task that is idiot proof - I tested it  myself :). If I can do it, so can you. But if you fail, you can always contact me on my
e-mail: delaneltd@gmail.com.

Here are the parts that I've choose:
Oil and Air filters MANN
Castrol EDGE 0W30

And now to the main task:

STEP 1:

Buy a oil flushing additive. Anyone will do, but I recommend STP Engine flush. It is not only good but also very affordable. It is suitable for diesel and petrol engines.

!!! IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!!!
!!!Do NOT Drive!!! your vehicle when using the flush.

STEP 2:

Start your engine.Drive it around until reaches its operating temperature.Usually 90 C or in the middle of your temperature scale.
Park the car and pop the bonnet.Locate your oil cap and open it.Pour the entire bottle in the engine, put the cap back.
Start the engine and run on fast idle(1500 - 2000rpm) for 15min.
Turn it off.

STEP 3:

Pull your hand break on.Jack your car up and put it on an axle stands.Secure the rear tyres.
Check everything again.Pay attention in the next step!

STEP 4:

To drain your old oil -open your engine oil cap.Get under the car,use number 17 wrench and unbolt the drain plug.
Unbolt it just a bit.Put a oil pan and then unbolt it in full.
Let the oil to drip in the pan for an hour or more. There is plenty to do meanwhile.

STEP 5:

STEP 6:

Find the oil filter cap and unbolt it.Try it by hand.If its too tight use oil filter wrench.

Take the cap out carefully and put it up side down on a paper.Use flat screwdriver and remove the old seals. There is 3 of them.Install the new on the same place like the old once and put the new oil filter.

STEP 7:

Clean the old oil from the oil filter place.Use some paper.

Now bolt back the oil filter and torque it at 25 Nm
Replace the old drain plug seal with the new once.

STEP 8:

Find your air filter box and unbolt the 2 bolts.

Find the 3 bolts for the plastic cover.

Find the clamp on the left side of the air filter box and unbolt it.

Lift the box and find the bolts that hold it together.

There is the old filter in the box.Nasty!!!

To remove the old filter just pull it out and put the new one.
New and Old Air Filters.

Bolt back together the air filter box and put it back in place with all bolts.

STEP 9:

Get under the car and bolt back the oil drain plug in place.
Now you are ready to pour some fresh oil in your engine.
Use a funnel and paper to protect the plastic and rubber parts under the bonnet.

!!!This engine contains 4,25L oil!!!
Do NOT overfill. It can makes serious damage to the engine.

Top up 4,25L fresh oil and reset your computer.

How to do it:

After the reset check the engine oil level with your computer.
It should be OK and the electronic display indicate MAX!

It's not that hard right?
Next time when your car needs new oil and filters - do it by your self.
Save some money!Hope you enjoy the procedure with me.
